Cintiq Companion Review #2 : Unpacking the beast. The packaging is beautiful. Everything is well cushioned although I was surprised to see the screen facing upwards in the box.
It's pretty weighty in hand but as I was handed the box I had thought it quite light compared to my expectations. So far I have no problem with the weight and carrying it around in the super soft and fluffy case provided is a pleasure.

The most important thing to note on the day you receive your Cintiq Companion is that it is going to prompt you for a windows key code. I was completely confused by this and almost ended up purchasing a key before a google search revealed that the Windows product Key is on the Charger! I was flummoxed that I would have to purchase windows so this discovery was a huge relief! Strange place to put it but, no big deal - all up and running and fine.

It does state that you should not operate your Companion in extreme heat or cold conditions so traveling with it in the car for a road trip to Johannesburg over the weekend made me realize I may want to keep it inside the provided plush cover as well as inside a laptop bag. The screen brightness is adjustable so I was able to get some decent work done as a passenger in the car. No problem.

Next review I will go into the screen and sensitivity as well the keyboard and some shortcuts!
